Baseball-size hail, violent winds, and churning tornadoes make supercells deadly, and when William Brody was a boy, his father -- a legendary storm-chaser -- was killed by one. Now, the family business belongs to Zane Rogers (Alec Baldwin), a reckless tour operator who sees dollar signs where others see storm clouds. When his destiny arrives in the form of one of the most powerful storms on record, William leaves his mom (Anne Heche) and home behind to team up with his father's ex-partner, Roy Cameron (Skeet Ulrich), barely surviving a tornado yet determined to chase one of nature's most terrifying creations: the bear's cage.

Supercell | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Leslie Felperin Guardian The thriller-y bits are duly exciting, and there’s something almost endearing about a film that makes no attempt to find comedy or supernatural elements or airborne sharks within these dangerous-enough natural conditions. Rated: 3/5 Jun 6, 2023 Full Review Supercell | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Between the genuinely awe-inspiring storm effects and Corey Wallace’s rousing, old-fashioned score, “Supercell” feels like a cheaper but in some ways more heartfelt version of a ‘90s blockbuster. Mar 21, 2023 Full Review Supercell | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion Far from super, even though it generates a lot of dramatic hot air. Rated: C- Apr 5, 2023 Full Review Supercell | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Whenever the skies are calm, this eye-rolling thriller about a family of Texas storm chasers loses its thunder. Apr 5, 2023 Full Review Supercell | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Roger Moore Movie Nation Well-thought-out, beautifully shot by Andrew Jeric (“Sightless”) and the actors, playing stock “types,” add value with performances that land Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 30, 2023 Full Review Supercell | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The storm-chasing in this modestly budgeted feature never amps up the excitement the way it needs to. And the human drama (though well-intended) isn’t strong enough carry us through. Rated: 2/5 Mar 22, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

SkyRo P I found the movie "Supercell" to be a well-executed film that may not reach the heights of a four or five-star rating, but certainly doesn't fall into the category of a low-quality film. It offers an enjoyable viewing experience that keeps you engaged from start to finish, particularly with its tornadoes and unexpected twists that add excitement to the story. The connection between the son and the father, with the father striving to impress his family, brings a heartfelt element to the film that resonates with audiences. The dynamics portrayed on screen, along with the eagerness for familial approval, make for engaging and relatable storytelling. The portrayal of the mother, played by Miss Ann Hetch, may come across as a bit peculiar and reminiscent of a drug addict, which can be distracting. However, this seems to be a recurring trait in her performances across different films.Despite any minor issues, overall, I found "Supercell" to be an enjoyable movie. Skeet Ulrich's performance as the uncle adds depth to the story, showcasing his talent as an actor. I would recommend giving this film a chance and seeing how it resonates with you, as it offers a compelling and entertaining viewing experience. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/27/24 Full Review Andrew M What the? Just awful. Bad acting, half pie story, strange plot, things that don't make sense and you do NOT EVER hide in a pool from a tornado. Ever. Period. The score does not make sense. The stormchasing does not make sense. The weird "scientific radio device" does not make sense. You can see the studio lights that are making "lightning" reflected in the glasses of the actor! Some nice storm videos though.. and a good lesson about avoiding the core of a supercell and the peril of big hail. But just awful. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/22/24 Full Review Sarah C Best thing I have seen this year- mash-up of Top Boy and Misfits with sympathetic main characters with real world problems, compelling plot and believable dialogue. Can’t wait for Series 2!!! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Dave S Seeing Twisters tonight made me appreciate this film way more. Better characters and more heart. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/20/24 Full Review Tara K So good! Excited for Twisters this weekend, but this comes in as a close second behind the original Twister. In some ways, it's better. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review Jovel D Great show! Definitely recommend, looking forward to season 2 Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
